Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal Delivers Keynote Address at 10th National HealthTech Innovation Conclave

Bhopal/ Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, delivered the keynote address
at the prestigious 10th National HealthTech Innovation Conclave, organized by APAC
News Network in New Delhi on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The event, which brought
together leaders from healthcare, technology, and public policy sectors, aimed to foster
discussions on leveraging innovation to drive India's healthcare transformation.
In his address titled "Designing a Digital Roadmap for India’s Public Healthcare
Ecosystem: The Role of Healthcare in Viksit Bharat", Prof. Singh outlined the significant
role that healthcare innovation plays in realizing the vision of a developed India. He
emphasized how AIIMS Bhopal has been a pioneer in this effort, particularly in
integrating digital technologies into India's public health landscape. Prof. Singh spoke
about the various initiatives spearheaded by AIIMS Bhopal to incorporate cutting-edge
digital solutions in healthcare delivery. This includes the development of telemedicine
platforms that have extended medical access to rural and underserved populations, and
the integration of AI-driven diagnostics into routine healthcare practices to enhance
accuracy and speed of diagnoses. He discussed the essential role of a robust public
healthcare system in achieving India's aspiration of becoming a developed nation. The
key to this, Prof. Singh noted, lies in building a healthcare infrastructure that is both
patient-centric and technology-driven. "Healthcare is not just a service; it is a
foundational pillar for societal development and economic progress," he stated.

Highlighting AIIMS Bhopal’s journey towards creating a digital roadmap, Prof. Singh
outlined the institution’s work in e-governance, data interoperability, and the
establishment of digital health records. He emphasized how these efforts are aligned
with India’s National Digital Health Mission, which seeks to create a seamless,
interoperable digital health ecosystem for all citizens.
Prof. Singh emphasized the need for multi-sectoral collaboration, involving
government, healthcare providers, technology companies, and academia, to bring about
meaningful changes in healthcare. AIIMS Bhopal, under his leadership, has been at the
forefront of forging such partnerships, with initiatives ranging from AI-assisted clinical
trials to the use of big data analytics in epidemic preparedness.
Prof. Singh concluded his address by sharing the institution’s long-term vision for
advancing healthcare through innovation. He reiterated AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to
driving research and development in areas such as medical robotics, personalized
medicine, and genomics, ensuring that these innovations benefit the entire nation,
particularly the most vulnerable sections of society.
